The volume opens with a flashback to the Heian period of Japanese history. We are introduced to a young boy named Yoriichi Tsugikuni, who is born with a rare ability to see demons. Yoriichi is taken in by the Demon Slayer Corps and quickly becomes one of its most skilled members.

However, Yoriichi's life is not without tragedy. His family is killed by demons, and he vows to avenge their deaths. Yoriichi travels the land, slaying demons and gaining a reputation as a legendary warrior.

Eventually, Yoriichi meets a young woman named Urokodaki. Urokodaki is a descendant of the first Demon Slayer, and she is the one who teaches Yoriichi the secrets of the Breath of the Sun, the most powerful breathing style in the Demon Slayer Corps.

With Urokodaki's help, Yoriichi becomes even more powerful. He defeats Muzan Kibutsuji, the progenitor of all demons, and ends the Heian period of darkness.

However, Yoriichi's victory comes at a great cost. He is forced to kill his own brother, Kokushibo, who has become a demon. Yoriichi also loses his wife and children, and he eventually dies alone and forgotten.

Ancient Memories is a gripping and emotional tale that explores the origins of the Demon Slayer Corps and the tragic past of its members. This volume is a must-read for fans of the series.
